Ch Ch Ch Changes !!

You never know when your life's going to take a dramatic change.

I walked out on the front porch tonight as dusk settled across the small valley in the mountains we live in.
I could hear the music from the neighbors.
It wasn't too loud, it just that sound really carries out here.
You can't see them for the trees, but you can hear people talking while their sittin on
their porchs or out working in their yards.
I guess it's a Spring Thing.

I turned to come back in and noticed a small post-it note on the door.
It was from some old friends we haven't seen in awhile.
The last time I saw them they was riding away on my GoldWing I traded them for a Cadillac.
The note had his phone number so I gave him a call to catch up some.

Let me tell ya a little about him.
We've known each other about 25 years,,,he's a california boy,,, and in his younger years,,,you could tell,,,
"ain't from around here are ya boy?"
He learned framing in CA and brought that and a hunger to be self employed to Arkansas,,,and he did a pretty good job of it.

I worked for him a couple of months, he worked for me a couple of times,
we worked together some of the time over a 20 year span.
He was a good Ole boy, but you could still see "ain't from around here are ya boy?"

We'd cross paths here and there.
One spring day about 2 years ago. I dragged my GoldWing out of the shop.
It'd been sitting for awhile....
I was scared to death I was going to hit a deer and had pretty much quit riding it.

Numerous close calls !!

Anyway, I blew it off with the air compressor, wiped it off with a rag.
Turned the key on and it was all I needed to get me going.
I rode it too the store and filled it up and left from there,,,just going for a ride.

There's a stretch of road,,,kind of the back way into Mountainburg,,that has nice twists and turns
for riders and small sports cars, plus great scenic views.

This road goes by Locust Mountain, where my buddy lives, so I took off  to see him.
And he went GaGa,,over the GoldWing. It didn't take too much wheeling and dealing for me to trade.
They came by the house later to look at my helmets, but they was too big for them.
And I haven't seen him since they pulled away that day.

In our phone conversation he tells me he's really messed up.
About 6 months ago he was  doing some roofing,,climbing a ladder with a bundle of shingles, and told his co-worker he was feeling dizzy and that they needed to set down as soon as he got rid of his bundle.
About 6 foot up the ladder and he went blank, remembered opening his eyes and seeing a police officer.
Then fading back out.

Turns out he had a brain aneurysm.
He went to Springfield,MO to have that operated on, spent 3 weeks in a coma.
Come out of it and can remember his childhood better than he can remember last year.

Says the last 30 years are all jumbled up,,,but he did remember my blue house,,,once he found it.
Then he remembered the cadillac that was sitting in the driveway. So that's good.

I'm going to see him tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes.
But anyway,,,keep your shit in order,,,you never know what's going to happen.

We had lunch with The Queen's Mum today.
She was looking good. Gets dizzy if she gets too hot,,,but heck,,so do I.
And we both have had enough of the pollen.
I was feeling better this morning, my eyes didn't feel like they have sandpaper behind them either.

This is getting rough,,,and it will get a lot rougher. It's called "people reclaiming their lives and futures".

Have a great Sunday !!
